The boys basketball team is the first to win a state championship in school history.

The pioneers used slight full court pressure and rushing to make baskets. The pioneers also had a play that involved them watching the clock count down until it hit about a minute then resumed to playing. They did this about 2 times. All of this is considered legal by FHSAA rules. It also led them to get fouled going into halftime leading Wellington to get 2 more points.

Robin Perry the MVP of the game scored 32 out of the teams 71 points leading them to the win.

Perry could not be reached for any comments.

Perry is currently not committed to any colleges but he hopes his performance on the court shows his dedication and have colleges want him on their team.

Flair is an out of bounds play, which was the team’s go to play as could be frequently heard it being yelled out on the court among players.

The fourth quartered the wolverines started to get fouls in doing so it led the pioneers to get free throw baskets and score 23 points that quarter.

Once the buzzer went off you can hear the crowd chant “Oak Ridge” The boys were elated that they won their first championship in school history.

Principal Jennifer Bellinger said,”I feel… so happy the boys worked hard for this. I really can’t explain to you how I feel.”

“These boys came and did what they were born to do. They have been champions all season ‘bout time everyone seen it”, said Athletic Director Anthony Atkins.

The boys ended their 2018 season by making history. It’s been a long season for the boys. Most are anticipating next years season.
