Girls Basketball Wins Two of First Three

The varsity girls basketball team lost, 50-43, at home against rival Jones on Dec 1.

Pioneer head coach Latorrie Williams spoke highly of junior Jasmine Quarterman, who played a big role, scoring 20 points. Anijah Grant also proved to be a key player by scoring 11 points and pulling in 15 rebounds.

In the first quarter, Oak Ridge took an 11-7 lead. Jones fired back in the second quarter to lead 24-19 at halftime. but in the second quarter Jones fired back and got a 5 point lead of 24-19.

Oak Ridge 61, Seminole 50

The Lady Pioneers upended Seminole 61-50 in the Spruce Creek All-Out Shoot Out in Port Orange. Caleigh West scored a game-high 17 points. Quarterman added 15, and Grant has 11 points and 11 rebounds. Imani Lubin had 12 points.

Oak Ridge 58, First Academy 53

Oak Ridge opened the season with a win against First Academy. Lubin led the way with 18 points and five assists. Quarterman had 14 points and seven rebounds. Grant scored 13 and added 11 rebounds and four blocked shots.
