Oak Ridge was handed their first loss of the Winter Park Rotary Tournament on Wednesday against Boone, which ultimately eliminated the Pioneers for the rest of the series.

The Pioneers suffered for the most part from a lack of team cohesion throughout the game, which cost them down the stretch.

“The lesson we learned was we need to start playing together and build our chemistry together,” said  Sophomore Ornado Bent. “We’ll need to start building a better bond to win our next game against Jones.”

Senior Jerell Williams also commented on the changes the team will have to make to be successful. “The keys to us winning every game is to learn how to play as a whole and make it gel,” said Williams. “It’s going to be tough since we’ve had new players come in, so we’ll have to learn to stick together and form a brotherhood.”

Boone player’s Chaundee Brown had a game-high 24 points along with Jordan Morales scoring 17 points. Oak Ridge junior Michael Devoe racked up a team-high 22 points. Rob Perry scored 17 points, with Kaleb Coleman contributing 11 points.
