 It’s that time of year for NBC. Every year the best actors and actresses are awarded for their superb contributions to TV shows, movies, series, and short films.The Golden Globe award is an American accolade presented and chosen by 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Twenty six different men and women were recognized for excellence in film and television for both domestic and foreign productions. The 73rd annual Golden Globes took place on January 10 with a little over 1,200 actors, actresses and producers. (Wikipedia 2016) This awards show is one of the hardest to get into. It is held annually at the Hilton’s International Ballroom which seats up to 1,300 people compared to the Academy Awards which is held in the Dolby Theatre and seats 3,400 people. The golden Globe award itself weighs 5.5 pounds. Guests also have the opportunity to have dinner or order food if they arrive on time. Those who sat with singer Katy Perry received complimentary burgers during the awards show, similar to when Ellen Degeneres ordered pizza for those at the Oscars last year.

Nominees range from Leonardo DiCaprio,  Cate Blanchett, Alicia Vikander, Taraji P. Henson, Will Smith, Bryan Cranston, Idris Elba, Sylvester Stallone, and much more. Select movies and series like Empire, Joy, Spy The Martian, Trainwreck, Steve Jobs, Inside out, The Good Dinosaur, and much more. Original songs like Writing’s On The Wall, Love Me Like You Do, and See You Again were also nominated for Best Original Song from a Motion Picture. Tom McCarthy, George Miller, Todd Haynes and Alejandro Iñárritu were nominated for Best Director of a Motion Picture. (Golden Globes 2016)

So much great directors, actors, actresses, movies, and songs were nominated, but only a few could be chosen.

The winners were, The Revenant for Best Motion Picture- Drama and The Martian for Best Motion Picture- Comedy. The winners for Best Performance by an Actress/ Actor  in a Motion Picture- Drama are Brie Larson and Leonardo DiCaprio. Jennifer Lawrence and Matt Damon  received the award for best performance by an actor/ actress in a motion picture- musical or comedy. Best performance by an actor/ actress in a supporting role in any Motion Picture was awarded to Sylvester Stallone and Kate Winslet. Alejandro Iñárritu received Best Director for a Motion Picture. Inside Out won Best Motion Picture- Animated and Ennio Morricone received Best Original Score- Motion Picture.  The best song for our movies was Writing’s On The Wall which was written by Sam Smith and played in the famous Spectre 007. John Hamm and the famous Taraji P Henson were awarded with the Best Performance by an Actor/ actress in a Television Series- Drama. (Golden Globes 2016)
