The 11-0-2 Oak Ridge Varsity Boy’s Soccer secured a non-conference home win to to add to their season total against the Apopka Blue Darters on Monday night. Though it seemed like an easy win for Oak Ridge, the underdog Blue Darters came to play early in the first half.

Apopka took an early lead only five minutes into the first half, but the Pioneers were still dominating the ball, but were unable to get just it in the goal. Ralph Francois was the first to score for Oak Ridge 22nd minute in the first half. The Blue Darters responded with another goal, giving them their last lead of the night.

Junior Sonely Cius came back to tie the game in the 32nd. Apopka couldn’t answer because of two great back-to-back saves by Adad Bauger. Going halftime the game was all tied up at 2 a piece.

Going into the 2nd half the Pioneers were warmed up and ready to go. All within the next fifteen minutes Oak Ridge racked up five goals, three of which were scored by Cius, who tied his personal record for most goals made in a game with four goals and gaining his second career hat trick. Oak Ridge closed out the game with a final score of 7-3.

“I trust my teammates and I know they were gonna get better the second half, then we did.” Cius said about his team. We can all expect that type of play on Wednesday night when our Pioneers take on the 1-9-1 Edgewater Fighting Eagles at home.
