On Monday, January 14th, the girls soccer team played against Pine Ridge for their district playoffs. Making a mark for the first time in this school’s history, the girls soccer team won a round in the playoffs.

“I’m very proud of the girls,” coach Denis Cinamman said. “It means all the hard work has paid off.”

Looking back to December, Cinamman had a concern that the girls were not putting forth their best plays and the outcomes to get to the championships were a bit out of their reach. Now, the team and Cinamman have their heads held up. With their first district win and able to go to the next round, the pressure is on.

“I’m really speechless and proud of my team,” senior varsity captain Berenizze Garcia said. “It’s unbelievable how much we’ve improved and bettered our communication.”

Last year, the girls did not make it this far. Their record was one that they were not so proud of, but come this year, the team proved everyone wrong.

“If we lose tonight, we’re gonna lose with honor,” Cinamman said.  “We’re gonna fight till the end.”

Tonight, the girls soccer team will have an away game against Winter Springs at 7 pm.
